As usual, thanks to Chelsea for hosting! Is it just me, or are the weeks getting longer and longer? I can’t believe it’s only Tuesday.

1. How do you pronounce the word aunt? Does your pronunciation rhyme with ‘haunt’ or ‘can’t’?
Rhymes with ‘can’t,’ because I’m from Texas.

2. Do most of the people in your life know you blog? Or are you partially or totally anonymous?
Yes, mostly. I don’t hide my blog from anyone but I don’t announce it either, so the people I work with probably don’t know about it. I’m completely unanonymous, and just try to use discretion regarding what I post.

3. When you grocery shop, do you prefer to bag your own groceries or do you like it when the store bags them for you? Paper, plastic, or reusable bags?
I let them do it because I’m lazy. Thankfully my husband does most of the grocery shopping because I hate that chore. We used reusable bags for a long time until recently when we left them at the used bookstore on accident. So I need to get some more of those.

4. Do you have a green thumb?
I doubt it. I’ve never really tried to garden or grow anything. It’s something I’d love to learn more about when I have the time.

5. If you watch the Food Network, which chef/show host is your favorite?
I don’t watch it. I’m not a foodie and I don’t really enjoy cooking, although maybe if I watched the Food Network it would inspire me.

6. Do you like to take baths? Do you take them very often?
I am not a bath person at all. Especially not for cleansing. I just don’t see how a person can get truly clean from a bath. Since becoming pregnant, however, I have come to see the benefits of baths for relaxation purposes. Nowadays I will take a 10-15 minute Epsom salt soak at night every once in awhile, and it’s nice. I can’t handle much longer than that though.

7. What color are the walls in your kitchen?
What little walls there are (the kitchen is mostly dominated by white cabinets and a pink/tan backsplash) are a light green color.

8. Do you prefer to dine outdoors or indoors?
In good weather I enjoy dining outdoors, but that kind of weather doesn’t happen too often around here.

9. Describe your ideal weather.
It would be sunny but not too hot, maybe in the 70′s, with a slight breeze.

10. If you could learn any foreign language, which would you choose to learn?
I know a little bit of Spanish and I wish I was fluent in it. I could get so much use out of that, especially at work.

This week’s Ten on Tuesday, hosted by Chelsea, is a photo edition of household things. It was easy and fun, although slightly embarrassing.

1. Your favorite piece of furniture in your home

Honestly my favorite piece of furniture is probably our mattress because it feels amazing, but that’s boring. This table is next because I got it at an antique shop, I think it’s cute and has character, and it’s one of the main hubs of our home. My husband hates it because it’s small, wobbles a bit, and is scratched up, but I don’t care!

2. Your favorite thing on your wall

This is pathetic because I actually only have two things hung on our walls so far: this tiny gallery of random things with two empty frames (found in our “library”), and three bamboo plates hung up in the breakfast nook.

3. Your bed as it looks right now

I used to be a diligent bed maker, but now my husband wakes up after I do, and I refuse to fight that battle. I sleep on the left side, and you can see my pregnancy pillow there with another pillow to prop up my head because of The Heartburn. Also, please note that our room has not been painted or decorated in any way since we moved in.

4. Your pantry

It’s not ultra organized, but it has method to it. Snacks on the bottom shelf, dry goods on the middle, and baking supplies on the top.

5. Your favorite piece of jewelry

I’m cheating here. There is of course my wedding & engagement ring. The delicate choker is what I wear every single day, and it’s from Jeneri Jewelry. The granny square necklace I won in a giveaway online. It has different colors on the back and, not being a huge jewelry person, it’s a perfect something extra.

6. Your favorite book

I should really have a better copy than this movie edition. Oh well.

7. Your most comfortable shirt

If you’ve known me for any length of time, you probably recognize this shirt because I’ve worn it so much. It’s perfect.

8. Your messiest room

This is the room where everything goes that doesn’t have a home. Right now it even has painting supplies in it! Eventually it will be a pleasant multi-purpose room, but now it’s just disorganized.

9. Your house shoes

On the left we have the sandals I wear basically all the time right now other than for work because they are so comfortable and supportive. In the middle is an example of some soft socks that I wear around the house rather than shoes if it’s cold, and on the right are my winter slippers.

10. Yourself

I took this right after work yesterday. Hi!

Hosted by Chelsea as always, and this week’s questions were provided by Erin.

1. When someone asks you for a book recommendation, what is your go-to book?
It depends on the person, so first I’ll find out what they like. A fiction book I wish everyone would read is A Prayer For Owen Meany by John Irving. For girls I recommend Rebecca by Daphne du Maurier. A historical Christian memoir that blew me away was The Hiding Place by Corrie ten Boom. I could keep going.

2. Do you buy your books, or are you a library patron?
I always check the library first, unless it is a book by one of my favorite authors or one I’ve read before that I know I want to own. Usually I can get a book from the library if I’m willing to wait a bit, and sometimes I procure books from swapping sites like Paperbackswap or BookMooch. I will also borrow from a friend if I have that option. If I need a book quickly (like for book club) and all of those outlets fail me, I’ll try to buy it used at my local bookstore or get it for my Sony Reader.

3. E-readers, yay or nay?
Yay. I have a Sony Reader Daily Edition and I love it. Although I will never quit reading paper books, I find that my Reader is a perfect companion. It’s convenient when I need a book fast, I can get many classics for free on it from Gutenberg.org (great for those long ones that you don’t want to lug around), and it’s extremely easy to get used to and read. I can even check books out from the library on it, although I do have to wait for them to become available.

4. What was your favorite book as a child?
Matilda by Roald Dahl. I read it over and over, and my copy is all beat up. I think it has a lot to do with the reason I love reading today.

5. If you could be any character in a book, who would you be?
Hard question! This may sound strange, but I just might pick Watson from the Sherlock Holmes stories. Holmes is one of my favorite characters, and I’d love to be privy to the inner workings of his mind and go on his adventures with him. Also, Watson is a doctor which is right up my alley. If I had to choose a girl I’d pick the narrator from Rebecca (she is never named) because her story is so romantic.

6. What book would you love to see turned into a movie?
I would definitely enjoy seeing Ender’s Game by Orson Scott Card as a movie. I am pretty sure that he’s serious about getting it made, and according to IMDb it’s in development for 2013, but we’ll see if it happens. For the record, I love movies that are based on books I’ve read. Yes, sometimes they are terrible, but I still look forward to seeing on screen the things I’ve imagined.

7. What is your all-time favorite book?
For me, nothing can top The Lord of the Rings by J.R.R. Tolkien.

8. How many books do you read at once?
Not too long ago I found myself strung out between five different books, and I decided I needed to make a change. These days I stick with one main book, one audiobook for my car, some supplemental reading every now and then about childbirth and parenting, and I’m going through The Happiness Project by Gretchen Rubin month by month. So although I’m “currently reading” four books, there is really only one main one.

9. What is your favorite book genre?
Literary fiction, but memoirs and narrative nonfiction are a close second.

10. Which Harry Potter book is the best? Or haven’t you read them at all?
I love Harry Potter, but it’s been awhile since I’ve read the books. I remember loving The Prisoner of Azkaban, and it’s also a good one because it’s number three which is before a lot of the heavy stuff starts to happen.

This week’s questions, hosted by Chelsea as always, are especially apt for me since I’m in the process of trying to choose a name for my daughter. I couldn’t resist answering them!

1. How did your parents decide on your name?
The way I remember it, they had a waitress at Bennigan’s named Kathleen and liked it. Fitting for an Irish restaurant. As for my middle name, Alexandra, it is after my grandfather who’s middle name is Alexander.

2. Do your initials (First, Middle, Last) spell out anything fun/funny?
Nope! I used to be KACS (my mom’s maiden name was one of my middle names) and now I’m KAF.

3. Did you take your middle name from childhood or did you take your maiden name as your middle name?
I took my middle name from childhood because I just really like it and thought it sounded best. I also wanted to symbolically give myself completely to my husband even with my name.

4. Are you or will you name your children thematically (ie. same first letter, all of same origin, etc.)
I don’t think so. The only thing we might do is go with all names with family significance.

5. Did you decide on baby names as a child? Did you stick to them or change your mind?
Definitely not as a child, but I had some names I liked starting in high school. I still like those names, but not as much as I used to.

6. Does your family have any names that have been passed down through generations?
There are a ton of Davids in my family including my uncle and brother (and husband). My dad’s name is Christopher Barry and my other brother’s name is Barry Christopher. My middle name is for my grandfather. My mom’s name is Paulina because her dad was Paul and her mom was Ina. There are probably more that I’m forgetting too!

7. Do you look at the meaning of the name or just the name itself?
I probably wouldn’t choose a name based on meaning but when I do like to know what names mean and it makes them that more special. Kathleen means “pure” and I have always treasured that.

8. Do you name pets with human names or with pet names?
Ours all have human names: Eddie, Cleo, and Oliver.

9. Are there any names that you have an affinity or dislike for based on a childhood experience/someone you once knew?
Yeah, I mean I wouldn’t name my children any of my ex-boyfriends’ names for one. I think it’s unavoidable.

10. What are some of your favorite names? Why?
I’m not going to share my absolute favorites since we’re in the process of choosing a name for our baby, but in general I like classic and Biblical names, nothing too unique or trendy.

Today I’m jumping in with these questions hosted by Chelsea:

1. What type of cell phone do you have and how would you rate it?
I have an iPhone 3G. I am in love with the iPhone in general but mine is the older model with the new software so it is pretty slow. I’m eligible for an upgrade but that would still cost me $200 which I just can’t justify. So for now, I’ll consider it an exercise in patience-building.

2. What has been your most serious injury?
I’ve never had a broken bone or needed stitches, but once in middle school my brothers and some friends and I were playing a hybrid game of tag and hide and seek on a half-built house in our neighborhood. (Stupid, I know.) I climbed up on the roof (again, so dumb) and got cornered there by whoever was “it” and the only escape was to jump off (this completes the trifecta of idiotic decisions I made that day). I ended up with a nasty sprained ankle that was impossible to walk on, but I was so embarrassed that I didn’t even tell my parents what happened, or I played it down bigtime. So I didn’t go to the doctor, and for the next week I was forced to hop around without crutches. By the end of it the other ankle hurt almost worse.

3. What is one movie you hate and why?
I despise raunchy comedies that have no redeeming value whatsoever. The prime example of this, in my opinion, is Superbad. I’ve only seen clips because I can’t even bring myself to sit through more than a few minutes of it.

4. How many email addresses do you have?
My personal email, my work email, and two old accounts that I no longer use but still have access to.

5. What website do you waste the most time on?
I don’t spend a lot of time Internet surfing, but I do try to keep updated with Twitter. I couldn’t do it without the app for my phone, though.

6. Which Mexican restaurant makes the best salsa?
Not technically salsa, but Los Cucos has some amazing green sauce. (Does green sauce have a real name? I don’t know.)

7. What is your dream car?
I’m sort of driving it, my Toyota Prius. Although mine is six years old and pretty basic, so my dream car would be the newest version with all the extras. I love owning a hybrid, and I like small cute cars.

8. If you could spend up to $100 with no strings or restrictions or guilt, what would you buy?
I’d probably put it toward vacation or maybe even toward a phone upgrade, but that’s a boring answer. A more fun way to spend it would be on a pedicure ($50), a new pair of yoga pants ($20), a magazine subscription ($15), a book ($10), and a drink from Starbucks ($5).

9. What is your favorite board game?
For party games my current favorite is Buzz Word and my all-time favorite is Catch Phrase. I’m also a fan of Scattergories and Cranium. Cranium is the only one that actually uses a board, though.

10. How often do you change your hairstyle?
I think it’s probably 1-2 times a year. Nothing drastic, but I like to grow my hair out for awhile and then chop it off. I usually choose a slightly different style each time.

I decided to jump back into Ten on Tuesday this week. These questions are hosted by Chelsea and written by Molly.

1. Is there a band/artist that you HATE?
I can’t stand listening to screamies in general. I have a special hate for Linkin Park because of some bad memories with an ex-boyfriend, and Nickelback or any band that sounds like them fills me with anger.

2. What do you do when you get a gift that you do not like? How do you react?
Pretend I like it and try to think of a particular thing about it that makes it a good gift and tell them so. It was most likely a sacrifice for that person to give it to me, and I want them to feel appreciated. I rarely return gifts.

3. How is your work office/cubicle decorated?
It’s a communal space and we all just kind of grab whatever computer station is available. So basically, I don’t get to decorate it. Examples of what I look at on the wall behind me at work: Board of Nursing contact info, intravesical chemotherapy powerpoint, intercom list, and what to do in case of bomb threat. Inspired yet?

4. Do you use all of your vacation every year?
I absolutely do; vacation is one of my favorite things. Right now I’m saving mine up for maternity leave which is practical but not very fun at the moment.

5. Did you have a real or fake Christmas tree?
We cut down a real one from a Christmas tree farm, and although I enjoyed that experience I admit that I really want a fake, pre-lighted tree. I just couldn’t stand all the needles everywhere.

6. If you could have anything for dinner tonight, what would it be?
It’s really hard for me to think about what to eat when I’m not particularly hungry, like now. But as of this moment I think I’d choose a cheesy, tomatoey pasta.

7. Do you bite your fingernails?
No, but I keep them very short. I couldn’t stand the unevenness of bitten nails.

8. How many cups of coffee do you drink each day?
I used to enjoy 2 cups every morning, but it started wreaking havoc on my stomach so I cut back to a once a week indulgence. Sadly, the last time I drank coffee (and a very weak cup at that) I was extremely jittery for hours and had terrible indigestion. So for now, coffee is out.

9. Do you have a nervous tick?
I was just talking about this with my family last night! One of my brothers bites his nails and the other one plays with his hair. The only quirk my parents could come up with for me is that I stick my tongue out when I’m concentrating. I don’t think that really counts as a nervous tick though.

10. How often do you vacuum?
Most of our house is wood floors and I rarely vacuum it, but I sweep it several times a week due to dog hair. The bedrooms get vacuumed probably every few weeks. Not often enough, probably.

I’m jumping back in with Ten on Tuesday hosted by Chelsea this week, because the questions are all about college and I loved my college and the whole experience.

I do have two degrees from two different schools, but my nursing school experience was nontraditional so I won’t be talking about that here.

1. Where did you go to college?
I went to Tabor College in Hillsboro, Kansas. It had about 500 students in a town of 3000 surrounded by farmland. We literally ran around the entire town during some soccer conditioning practices.

David's first visit to Tabor last year.

2. What did you study?
I majored in Christian ministry and philosophy. I originally wanted to work at a Christian camp, but my education was actually geared toward leading youth groups in churches. I now consider nursing my ministry, and I help lead our church youth group as a volunteer.

The whole philosophy thing was just for fun. I had a great professor and it was a pretty small load of hours.

3. Was college really all that it was cracked up to be?
Definitely. I chose the perfect school, and I thrived. You’d think that a place that small and that different from what I’m used to would be boring, but I made the best friends and got really involved in activities (soccer, choir, band, leading a local church youth group, intramural sports, even drama). I also learned so much and I know I’m a better person because of the classes and professors at Tabor. I consider it my life degree.

4. How far were you from home?
I just mapped it, and it’s 675 miles. It took about eleven hours driving.

I feel like I know every inch of this drive, and all its variations.

5. Did you have the same roommate all four years?
No; the first semester I was paired with another soccer player, Katie, and although we had some good times we didn’t work as roommates at all. She was the kind of person who would ask you a question and then walk away while you were in the middle of answering her.

We went our separate ways, and I moved in with a friend I’d made named Sara. She and I lived together the first semester of sophomore year too, until she went to pharmacy school. I got one semester in my own room, then junior year I lived in a house with three good friends and roomed with my best friend Becca. That was the best year.

Me with my housemates from junior year.

First semester senior year I lived with a friend named Iva in a room meant for one person. We had fun, but she moved home second semester and I was again alone.

6. Where did you order food from at 2am?
I never ordered food, but we did have some late night McDonald’s runs. That was until the McDonald’s went out of business (can you imagine a place where a McDonald’s actually goes out of business??)

7. Did you date in college or were you tied down?
I had a pattern: I dated a different guy at the beginning of every year but we were always broken up by Christmas, and not by my choice. I learned a lot about heartbreak in college.

8. Funniest drunk college moment?
I’ve actually never been drunk. Tabor required us to sign a lifestyle contract (it was a Christian school) and I followed it for the most part.

9. Did you make it to class on time?
I always made it, but I didn’t always stay awake. It was interesting to look back at the notes I took from morning classes, because you could tell right where I nodded off.

10. What was your favorite class in college?
My absolute favorite was a class on the life and writings of C.S. Lewis. In second place is a class on the Book of John, which was incidentally the hardest class I took.

I’ve been back for Tabor’s homecoming every single year since I graduated; that’s how much I loved it. Some of my best friends live up there, and now my former pastor is the president of the school. Unfortunately an ex of mine who I met in college (we started dating long distance after I graduated) began borderline harassing me after we broke up – all the way until last year when I had to threaten him with getting a lawyer. I’m kind of scared to go back now because it’s a small enough place that I might bump into him and how awkward would that be?

Since I lovingly and painstakingly came up with each one of these questions for Chelsea, I guess I should answer them myself. :) I tried to think of things I would really be interested in knowing the answers to, and that would also be fun to write about. Here we go:

1. What television character do you identify with?
I wrote this question because it’s so easy for me to answer. I am a real-life version of pre-season 5 Rory on Gilmore Girls. I’m a goody-goody, I’m a bookworm, I’m a homebody who is in love with my town, I love interesting movies, and now I’m even a habitual coffee drinker. I even think we look a little bit alike, although my brother has met her in real life (at a party–yeah, he’s that cool) and he says she looks fragile, she’s so thin. I definitely don’t look fragile.

2. Describe your morning routine.
I press snooze a few times, then lie in bed lamenting the fact that it is SO DANG EARLY and I actually HAVE to get out my incredibly comfortable bed. I spend a few minutes in prayer telling God that it’s just not fair, but then I realize that if I don’t get up NOW, I won’t be able to eat breakfast and that’s just bad news bears.

So I get up, go to the bathroom, brush my teeth, take a shower, then wrap a towel around me. I put on face and body lotion and run a brush through my hair. I get dressed and put on deodorant and earrings. I grab my phone and my book and walk to the front of the house. I let the dogs outside and put food and water in their bowls. I put some water on to boil and pack mine and David’s lunch. I let the dogs in when they start to become obnoxious. I prepare coffee. I blow dry my hair in the laundry room because for some reason all the electrical outlets in all the bathrooms are broken. I plug my flat-iron in to heat up. I put on makeup in the front bathroom because the light is best there. I style my hair because if I don’t it does this crazy flip thing. I eat a quick bowl of cereal. I go back to our room and wake David up to say goodbye to him, hoping for some entertaining sleep-talk. I hug the dogs goodbye, then drive to work.

3. How do you do lunch? Bring from home or dine out? Same thing every day or mix it up?
I always bring my lunch, and it is almost always this: Lean Cuisine (either chicken carbonara or roasted turkey breast), banana, yogurt or applesauce, and a Fiber One bar. I eat in the lounge on the unit at work. I also pack leftovers for dinner if I’m working a long day.

4. What is one moment that, although seemingly trivial at the time, changed your life?
After I graduated college the first time, I took a “summer job” at an oncology clinic doing medical records. My plan was to work through the summer and then move to Dallas to do ministry with my best friend. But because of that job I became interested in nursing, and I realized the best place to do that was Houston. I ended up working there for two years while I went to class at night getting prerequisites for nursing school.

5. Name your top three beauty products.
My life was changed when I discovered mousse for my hair, even the cheap kind. It takes away the static, gives my limp hair body, and helps it do what I want it to do. Mascara is the one makeup product that I can’t do without. It completely changes the look of my face. My favorite is Dior DiorShow, but I’m looking for an organic brand. Finally, I am obsessed with the little tubes of Aquaphor. It is perfect for lips: extremely moisturizing, long-lasting, shimmery, and cheap.

6. What do you do when you’re alone in the car?
60% of the time I sit in silence and think, talk to myself, or pray.
30% of the time I listen to audiobooks.
10% of the time I listen to music and sometimes sing, and only 1% of the time is that to the radio.

7. What is the ideal city for you to live in? If you can, take this survey (< that’s a link) and tell us the results. Do you agree with them?

My top result was Norfolk, Virginia. I didn’t know anything about it so I read through the results. It seems like a nice place: on the water, mild climate, a good arts scene. I think I’d like it there. I’ve taken this survey before, and my top result was Charleston, South Carolina. I do love the southeast, it’s quite beautiful. But my heart will always belong to Texas, and I really do think Houston is an ideal situation for me even if you take family out of the picture. It has a few things that are extremely important to me: a best-in-the-country medical center, lots of great food, a warm climate, and awesome theatres.

8. Are you waiting for something?
I am waiting for next week when we get to go to NYC. I am waiting for my next cycle to begin so I can start fertility testing. I am waiting for the fall when I might possibly get to transfer to a hospital closer to home.

9. What was the last shocking news you heard?
The other day I read an obituary at work about one of our patients who had died. It shouldn’t be shocking considering the field I’m in, but the last time I saw this patient (only a couple weeks ago), she was walking around and as loud and boisterous as ever.

10. What are three things you wouldn’t do for a million dollars?
I wouldn’t cheat on David in any way, shape, or form. I wouldn’t renounce my faith. I wouldn’t eat any kind of live insect or other creature.

It was fun to answer my own questions! Although they weren’t all easy, not even for me. Looking forward to reading your answers. :)

1. When you were a senior in high school, what career did you think you’d choose? Did you? Why or why not?
The thing I loved best was singing, so I thought I’d somehow find myself in music ministry. I went to a tiny Christian college (the first time around) and since there was no “music ministry” major instead I started on a double major of music and ministry. I ended up dropping the music part when I discovered that a) it was less church worship music and more classical training, and b) that I would have to take piano classes throughout school. Piano and I have a rough history.

2. What one thing about the “real world” did you find most surprising once you were on your own?
I don’t think I had a very shocking transition into adulthood, but I suppose the biggest change I had to adapt to was not being able to take time off anytime I needed to. Like, sometimes I have to go to work even when I’m sick because I’m not sick enough to warrant the day off.

3. Name 3 things you think your closest friends DON’T like about you.
Different friends would say different things. Some might not like that I don’t drink, party, or stay up late. Some might not like that I can get over-competitive if I let myself. Some might not like that I (unknowingly?) put out an air that makes me seem like a saint or a nun, and they are afraid to admit any failures to me. Some might not like that I am fairly set in my ways and don’t deal with change well. I think that was four, but oh well.

4. In order to sleep, do you need background noise or absolute quiet?
I prefer quiet, although I do enjoy white noise. I can’t deal with much more than that, and have a pair of earplugs on my bedside table just in case.

5. Why do you choose to reside in your current city? Yes, you have a choice.
I was born in Houston and have spent most of my life here. My entire family, plus my in-laws, live here. The climate is warm, it’s easy driving distance from the beach or the hill country, and there are a ton of amazing restaurants. It has the biggest medical center in the country, one of the best theatre districts, and the people are super friendly. It’s home, and I love it here.

6. Are you close to your parents?
Yes! They live only a few minutes away, and I get to see them at least once a week. One thing I love about adulthood is being friends with my parents.

7. What is your favorite fiction book? Poem? Blog?
My favorite fiction book is Lord of the Rings. I’m not much of a poetry person, although I have read some that I truly love. (I just can’t remember them right now.) As for my favorite blog, I adore all of my friends and enjoy everything they have to say. But I do have one huge blog crush on Holly from Nothing But Bonfires. I want to be her.

8. Do you enjoy cooking or is it a chore?
I really do enjoy it, but it stresses me out because I’m not experienced yet. I need a LOT of time to get a meal together which isn’t always feasible.

9. Be honest. What one thing would (the majority of) your blog readers be shocked to find out about you?
Y’all, my personal slogan is “There’s No Catch.” What you see is what you get. Of course there are personal things that I don’t blog about, but if you and I were to sit down and chat I don’t think any of those things would shock you.

10. If you were given your own national holiday, what would you require people to eat for breakfast, lunch and dinner on the Day of You? Would there be a parade? Greeting cards?
Breakfast would be eggs, bacon, and pancakes. Lunch would be baked potato soup and sandwiches. Dinner would be chicken and dumplings. Everyone would get the day off, even nurses. In this fantasy there would be a way to make that work.

1. Fill in the blank. Sometimes I wish my life was more ______.
Simple, spiritual.

2. How do you cure the hiccups?
Take a knife or a fork and bite down on it. While your teeth are clenched there, take a couple sips of water without letting them go. You will probably spill some on you, but your hiccups will be gone if you do it right – guaranteed.

3. What are three of your favorite indulgences?
Pedicures, chocolate, and reality TV.

4. Where is the most exotic place you would like to travel to? The most mundane?
Most exotic – Africa for a safari. Most mundane – Kansas to visit friends.

5. Does having your time planned out stress you or relax you?
Relaxes me. Even when I have time off to do what I want, I like to plan it out for myself so that I can accomplish everything I want to, even if it’s just reading a certain number of chapters or catching up on DVR.

6. What are your favourite fabrics to wear?
I’m not a fashion snob, and I like wearing anything smooth and comfortable. I know what I like when I feel it, but I have to say that I don’t know what that is.

7. Do you sleep through the night?
I almost always wake up when David comes to bed 2-3 hours after I’ve already been to sleep. He says that I moan in pain/exhaustion at that time, like nothing could be worse in the world at that moment than not being asleep. I also rouse when my dog Cleo wants to get under the covers, or if she wants to get out from under them. That happens a few times during the night, but I don’t fully wake. If I didn’t have those two distractions, I think I’d easily sleep through the night every night.

8. When you were younger, what did you think you would be doing at this age? How close is that to what you are doing?
I can’t remember thinking about this age much when I was younger. It was so far away it was like a different world to me, one where I didn’t belong. I guess I had some vague ideas of what I wanted to be when I grew up, which ranged from a photographer to a physical therapist. The latter is somewhat along the lines of nursing, I suppose.

9. What has surprised you most about growing up?
I think it’s that I never really feel like I’m “grown up.” I don’t feel old, and I’m not depressed about getting older. But also, I never would have guessed that my parents (and my in-laws) would be my friends at this age, and that I would enjoy spending time with them more than almost anyone else.

10. Are you good at keeping secrets?
Yes, except from my husband. I consider him an extension of myself, so don’t tell me anything unless you’re okay with him knowing too. But don’t worry, you can trust him. :)
