favorite podcasts

June 6, 2013

I have a long commute to work and most of the time I listen to audiobooks, but this year I’ve also added in podcasts to the mix. They’re so fun! My criteria for a podcast is: has to be light & upbeat, not explicit, and I can’t be annoyed by anyone’s voice. Here’s what I have on rotation.   Must Listen Joy the Baker – my first podcast love and still my favorite. Joy and Tracy just chat about random things and answer questions from listeners. I feel like I’m talking with friends when I listen, and I frequently laugh out loud. Book Riot – this is relatively new but it’s so great! Jeff and Rebecca talk about news and…

popsugar must have may 2013 box

May 21, 2013

My latest guilty pleasure is monthly subscription boxes. This is not a new thing, but I’ve recently become fascinated with them. Right now I’m signed up for two of them, and the first one I chose is PopSugar’s Must Have box (referral link there). It’s $35 a month – but use code REFER5 to get $5 off your first month – and you get all sorts of products from fashion, beauty, food, entertainment, home, etc. I researched a lot of subscription services before choosing this one, and it seemed like you get the most for your money with it and the variety of products is exciting. I have to say that even if the contents of the box were a dud,…

obsessed with refrigerator oatmeal.

May 16, 2013

I feel kind of like an impostor posting something about food because everyone should know by now that I am not a foodie or a cook by any means. BUT maybe that gives me cred in a weird sort of way? Like, if this works for ME then it could easily work for you? Regardless, here goes. I used to be obsessed with cereal. I’d eat it for breakfast, dinner, snack, anytime I could get it. Then something happened when I got pregnant and I don’t like the feeling of that much milk on my stomach anymore. And I realized that cereal is basically just sugar; even the healthy kinds are not that healthy. In the hospital when I gave birth to Meredith I…

my mother’s day wish list

May 9, 2013

So this really isn’t a gift guide or anything, unless you are looking to get me a gift. Then by all means! But my husband asked me what I wanted for Mother’s Day and other than time with my family (and some time to myself, let’s be real) I was thinking that even though I keep a running wish list, there are types of things that I never seem to buy for myself but that I always want. So this is what I mentioned to him: House plants - specifically, ones that can stand neglect like succulents. I am actually fairly attentive to my plants but since I’m just learning about them I need hardy ones. I have six small indoor…

spring loves

April 16, 2013

Spring is my favorite season, I’ve decided. The weather, the idea of a fresh start, nature blooming, the lengthening days, all the outdoor activities happening…it’s fantastic. I only wish it would last longer here before the oppressive heat sets in. Anyway, here are some things I’m loving lately. Joy the Baker podcast – I’m late to this, because it’s been running for a couple of years now. But when I listen I feel like I’m just chatting with two awesome friends. It’s perfect on my commute. Anyone know of any other podcasts that are similar? Old Navy vintage tees – I have these in four colors, but I need to get them all. They are cheap, soft, comfortable, cute,…
