Who Am I?

Hello, my name is Kathleen Forbes. It’s nice to meet you. Now that we have the formalities out of the way, let’s move on, shall we?

I am currently 28 years old and I live just outside of Houston, Texas. Before you say anything negative about it, know that I am aware of the amount of traffic, concrete, and humidity in my city, I adore it anyway, and I will defend it with a ferocity you wouldn’t think possible from me. Anyway.

I have been married to my husband David since October 3, 2008. We bought a house shortly afterwards, and shortly after that I was seized with a domestic instinct that I didn’t know existed. I am now on a quest to become the perfect housewife, even though I previously knew NOTHING about cooking, decorating, or entertaining.  I still know very little about any of that, although I will say that the one thing I’m good at is cleaning, and no one can take that away from me. (Except for maybe our three dogs: Eddie, Cleo, and Oliver, whose fur can be found EVERYWHERE in our house, no matter what interventions I undertake.)

I am a registered nurse by trade, and I specialize in oncology. I work in a very large inpatient hospital and my hours are never the same. Stories from my job are everywhere from disgusting to heart-wrenching, but I consider it my calling and it is worth all of the stress and emotion that it puts me through.

One thing I probably should have mentioned before is that I’m a Christian, and it is my primary identity. My husband and I are devoted to our tiny church, where we are leaders of the youth group and all of our friends are either a generation above or below us.

I like: reading, making cards, the feeling after I’ve exercised, soccer, chocolate, pedicures, automatic sliding doors, using cruise control during short trips, the semi-colon, songs that tell a story, foaming hand soap, fat furry animals, tulips, maps, a good sneeze, and tragic characters.

I dislike: seafood, asymmetry, baths, cockroaches, moving, recklessly fast drivers, smoking, bad or cold weather, beeping noises, clutter, sputum, politics, and gambling.

Welcome to my blog.
